We all know that ESPN/ABC got monster ratings as the Miami
Heat beat the San Antonio Spurs in a very entertaining seven game NBA Finals.
Well NBA TV and NBA digital also benefitted from the Heat- Spurs success.
According to data released by the league the NBA Finals was
a big success on the cross platform front:
NBA Digital, jointly managed by the NBA and Turner Sports,
generated all-time cross-platform consumption records during the 2013 NBA
Finals – won by the Miami Heat over the San Antonio Spurs in seven games –
including its largest audience ever for pre- and post-game coverage on NBA TV
and record-setting traffic and video streams across NBA.com and NBA Mobile.
NBA TV’s NBA GameTime pre- and post-game coverage during The
Finals was up 28% among total viewers compared with last year. This year’s average of 186,000 total viewers
for pre- and post-game coverage was a new record for the network.
NBA.com garnered more than 646 million page views during
this year’s Finals, up 57% vs. last year.
The site also accumulated more than 434 million video streams, up 120%
when compared with the 2012 Finals.
NBA Mobile experienced all-time records among page views and
video streams. This year’s NBA Finals
registered more than 138 million page views, domestically, up 91% vs.
2012. NBA Mobile also saw a total of 4.5
million video streams during the 2013 NBA Finals, up 126% over last year.
Additionally, downloads for the league’s signature NBA Game Time app were up
111% compared with the 2012 NBA Finals.
